Ford to unveil new Fiesta, India launch in 2017

Ford Fiesta will be available at European dealerships by 2017 and is expected to be launched in India by the end of 2017.

Ford will reveal the seventh generation Fiesta on 29th November 2016, at Ford's Go Further event in Cologne, Germany. Earlier, spy images of the new Fiesta were revealed on the internet. According to the spy images and various sources, the 2017 Ford Fiesta will be based on the Ford Global B platform, which underpins the current Fiesta. In addition to this, the Fiesta will be available in three-door and five-door hatchback.

Ford has not revealed the details or technical specifications of the new-gen Fiesta but it is expected to get a turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and four-cylinder engine. In terms of design, the company has reworked on the exterior of the car to give it a more premium and modern look. Key changes include swept-back headlamps at the front, while at the rear, the vertical tail lamps have been replaced by horizontal tail lamps. It is expected that the 2017 Fiesta will be longer and wider than the current generation model.

Inside the cabin, the 2017 Ford Fiesta is expected to get the touchscreen with company's SYNC3 software for music and navigation. The all new Fiesta could also get safety features such as lane departure warning, blind spot mirror and traffic sign recognition for the European markets.

In India, Ford launched  fifth generation Fiesta in September 2005, the car was powered by 1.6 L Duratec engine and with a 1.4 L TDCi engine. It was equipped with the features such a dual airbags. However, owing to lagging sales, the company stopped selling the car some time back.
