Every auto-maker wants to increase their market share and increase in popularity of SUVs has convinced the likes of luxury car-makers like Rolls-Royce to build one. The company has already begun the development of its first ever SUV and the company has started testing the off-roader that has been code named as Cullinan, name derived from from the largest gem-quality rough diamond ever found. Rolls-Royce SUV, code named as Cullinan was spotted testing by Digital Trends and the photos suggest an engineering mile with a production body wrapped in swirly black-and-white camouflage. Overall design suggests that the Cullinan has adopted a more Rolls-Royce family design with a traditional-looking silhouette discarding the crossover-coupe trend something that we saw in Bentley Bentayga. Rolls-Royce SUV looks bigger than the BMW X5 and is equipped with set of premium looking suicide doors.
The face of Rolls-Royce falls in line with the company's design language and is similar to that of the new Rolls-Royce Phantom. It features tall and aggressive grille finished in chrome and thin horizontal headlights. Expect the British luxury carmaker Rolls-Royce to build the most luxurious and modern looking SUV ever built.
Rolls-Royce SUV will also underpin the new all-aluminum platform called Architecture of Luxury on which the eighth generation Rolls-Royce Phantom is also based. The SUV will feature all-wheel drive and will be powered by the same V12 engine that debuted with the Phantom. The engine sheds a power of 563 HP and Nm of torque mates to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
All ready production version of Rolls-Royce SUV is expected to make its debut in 2018 with global sales likely to begin in 2019. Rolls-Royce SUV will come to India but not before 2020. The name Cullinan might not be retained by the company for the production ready SUV and will take on the likes of Bentley Bentayga and the upcoming Lamborghini Urus SUV.
