Fiat has started accepting bookings of the Urban Cross with a token amount of Rs 20,000. The company showcased Urban Cross this year at the 2016 Auto Expo – The Motor Show and this 'hot cross-hatch' will be launched soon.
The Urban Cross will be powered by petrol and diesel engine options namely the 1.4 L T-Jet motor that churns out 139hp of max power and 210Nm of peak torque. The oil-burner which is a 1.3L Multijet turbo diesel unit produces 92hp of power and 209Nm of peak torque. Both engines are mated to their respective 5-speed manual gearbox. The car is 3,989 mm long, 1,706 mm wide and 1,542 mm tall with a ground clearance of 205mm. The 1.3L Multijet diesel variant of Urban Cross will come in two versions- Active and Dynamic, while the 1.4L T-Jet petrol will come only in the Emotion variant.
Design-wise, Fiat has worked on both rear and front fascia of the car which includes a new grille, LED headlights, LED taillights, roof spoiler, Avventura livery on each side and a few other changes. The car is shod with 17-inch blackened out alloy wheels, however, it may be the case that the lower variants may not get the same scheme. Inside the cabin, the cross-over gets a 5-inch touch-screen with navigation and a 'black and red' dashboard, new gear knob and more changes for a sporty look. From safety's point-of-view, the Urban Cross gets dual airbags and ABS with EBD. We would love it if Fiat makes the safety equipment standard across all variants.
When launched, the Fiat Urban Cross is expected to be priced between Rs.7 Lakh to Rs 10 Lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi)
