Earlier this month, Hyundai updated the Elite i20 with new safety features and a few cosmetic changes. The South Korean car manufacturer has now started working on the next generation of the Elite i20 which will be a facelift has been spotted on test for the first time.
The spied model is heavily camouflaged, but design changes on the exterior are evident. The facelifted Hyundai Elite i20 will get the company's signature hexagonal front grille with chrome slats, similar to the recently launched Xcent. The number plate will be placed slightly higher than the current model on sale. Higher variants of the 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 will be offered with 16-inch alloy wheels and the interior is likely to receive new upholstery as well as dual front airbags as standard. A new touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is also expected.
In terms of engine and transmission options, the 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 facelift is expected to be powered by the same 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine with 89 hp of power and 220 Nm of torque that is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol version will get a 1.2 litre and a 1.4 litre unit that is paired to a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission. The company might also offer a new 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine which is expected to produce 120 hp of power and 172 Nm of torque.
