Eicher Trucks & Buses have introduced Zero Emission Electric Buses in India. With this, the brand has entered the electric bus segment. The development will see VE Commercial Vehicles joining hands with KPIT Technologies’ developed ‘REVOLO’ electrification technology that is used on its bus platform called ‘Skyline Pro’. The Eicher electric buses have been manufactured at the company's manufacturing facility in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The company states that REVOLO is a versatile technology that has been designed by KPIT, which is a global technology company working in automotive and mobility solutions. The REVOLO technology is developed in such a manner that allows it to operate even on a lower voltage. The system also does significant regeneration in order to achieve the maximum possible range with the smallest possible battery.
The new Skyline Pro E buses offer a range of 177 kms per single full charge, when the AC is working throughout. The buses come with 36 percent regeneration capacity that result in an electricity consumption of less than one unit per kilometre. Also, these buses have been provided with a top up charger to enable charging while on the route. The length of the new Skyline Pro E buses is 9 meters.
Speaking on the development, Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO, VE Commercial Vehicles said, “The country is at the cusp of a new revolution in transportation, and it is our endeavor to provide India with the best mobility solutions. Together with KPIT Technologies Ltd., we bring our core competencies of a strong bus platform and indigenous technology to build the right products for the market. This further reinforces commitment to usher in modernization in the CV industry. The Smart Electric Skyline Pro E buses are certified to ply on Indian roads and we are confident they will bring great value to commuters, city transportation corporations and other organizations in this ecosystem. Our pan India network of dealerships and service stations will provide all the necessary service support and maintenance for operating these electric buses efficiently.”
“The shift to electric vehicle technology is opening up a number of opportunities for the economy. It is a viable solution to India’s depleting air quality and increasing dependencies on traditional fuel resources. Along with the supporting policy framework, it will bring in positive implications across environment, social and economic parameters", he added.
