Now in its fifth edition, the Valley Run is set to begin at the Aamby Valley airstrip in Pune. The event, powered by Fast and Furious 8, is expecting the largest number of entries this year. It will be held on an airstrip at Amba Valley City, a development of Sahara India Pariwar, in Pune district. This is the only official event to host drag racing in the country. The three-day festival of speed attracts a large number of participants and spectators too. Tickets for entry to the festival cost in a price range of Rs 750 to Rs 3200.
The event will see some of the fastest races of the country. Racers from all over the country will get together for quarter mile races carried out on an arrow straight airstrip. The event will be held from March 10-12.
The organisers of the Valley Run festival, Elite Octane Inc, have also planned other attractions like celebrity appearances and other such events in the presence of high performance cars and motorcycles.
It is interesting to notice an increased interest in people regarding motorsports, which have not been much of a focus in India. Formula One championship was only held once in the country, but with events like the Valley Run, the motorsports will raise awareness and perhaps someday people from normal walks of life will plan track days in their free time.
