Datsun redi-Go, which is all set to have its world premier on April 14, 2016, has been teased yet again. The teaser image reveals the exterior silhouette and curves of the vehicle. Datsun’s new hatchback is based on the redi-Go concept that was first showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. The redi-Go is Datsun’s smallest hatchback based on highly localized Nissan-Renault Alliance’s CMF-A platform. This architecture also underpins the Renault Kwid.
Here are 5 things you should know about the Datsun redi-Go hatchback
Design & Features
The production version of the Datsun redi-Go hatchback will be a slightly stripped down version of the concept. It’s the second car based on Nissan-Renault Alliance’s CMF-A platform, first being the Kwid. The car might feature a hexagonal grille, sweptback headlights, roof rails, and a high ground clearance.
Engine & Gearbox
The Datsun redi-Go hatchback might borrow the 0.8-litre SCe petrol engine from the Renault Kwid. This power mill is good for 53bhp and 74Nm of torque. Transmission on offer will be a 5-speed manual gearbox that could be tuned for better acceleration. At a later stage, the hatchback might also be offered with a 1.0-litre diesel powertrain.
Mileage figures of the new Datsun car will be equivalent to that of the Kwid. The hatchback’s 0.8-litre petrol mill delivers a fuel efficiency of 25.17kmpl.
The new small car from Datsun will make its first global debut on April 14, 2016 at an event in Delhi. Though the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed the launch date, we expect it go on sale in May 2016.
Since the Datsun redi-Go is based on a highly-localized low-cost platform, it could be priced quite aggressively. We expect it to come within the price range of Rs. 2.50 lakh – Rs. 3.50 lakh.
