Datsun’s Redi-Go 1.0 litre AMT has been launched at a price of Rs 3.8 lakh in India. The Redi-Go which competes with the likes of the Renault Kwid and the Maruti Suzuki K10, will now get the come up to par with the competition in terms of features on offer. The Datsun Redi Go Smart Drive shares it motor with the standard 1.0 litre Redi GO, and stand apart in the small car segment for its smart tall-boy roofline and outside the box design.
We drove, the 1.0 litre AMT last week in Delhi, you can find our review here! The Redi-Go smart drive gets a 5-speed AMT which it shares with the Renault Kwid. But unlike the Kwid, the Redi-Go gets a conventional shift stick in place of the dashboard mounted rotor on the Kwid 1-litre. Which makes it a lot easier to use. The Datsun Redi-Go Smart Drive AMT gets a manual drive option as well, although like the Nano, the K10 and the Kwid it misses out on the ‘Park’ mode on the gearbox. The Datsun also gets a creep mode, which allows the car to keep moving even in bumper to bumper traffic when you lift off the brake pedal.
Commenting on the launch, Nissan Motor India Managing Director Jerome Saigot said, "Datsun redi-GO Smart Drive Auto combines the convenience and flexibility of dual-driving mode with best-in-class ground clearance, cabin space, boot space and head room." It is powered by a 1-litre petrol engine.
