Datsun India will launch its much-awaited hatchback redi-GO with a 1.0-litre engine this month and the company has already started accepting bookings for the car. The customer can book the redi-GO 1.0 litre at an amount of Rs 10,000, which is refundable. The car will be launched on 26th July, with deliveries expected to commence immediately thereafter. The redi-GO will be powered by a 1.0 litre, three cylinder engine that comes equipped with an Intelligent Spark Automated Technology (iSAT) for higher fuel-efficiency. The unit produces 67 hp of power and 91 Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The company is expected to launch the AMT version of Datsun redi-GO, similar to the Renault Kwid AMT but only at a later stage this year.
Datsun launched the redi-GO last year with a 799cc petrol engine that produces 53 hp of power and 72 Nm of torque. It gets features such as body coloured bumpers, chrome accents on the bumper, power steering and DRL's. Inside the cabin, the hatchback gets audio system compatible with Bluetooth, AUX-In and USB. The Datsun redi-GO measures 3,429mm in length, 1,541mm in height, 1,560mm in width and has a wheelbase of 2,348mm.
The Datsun redi-GO with the 800cc engine is available at a price range between Rs 2.40 lakh to Rs 3.63 lakh,ex-showroom, Delhi. It is expected that the redi-GO with the 1.0-litre engine will be launched at a higher price tag around Rs 3.25 lakh,ex-showroom, Delhi. When launched the redi-GO will compete with the likes of Hyundai Eon and Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 but will miss out on the AMT that both its competitors offer presently.
