For members of the Automotive industry, be it communications or top of the food chain company corporates or even the media, the Auto Expo is a very serious affair. Which made it heartening to watch Maruti Suzuki Executive Director Mr RS Kalsi joined in as part of a flash mob organised by Maruti Suzuki at the Auto Expo 2018. The flash mob which was choreographed by star choreographer, Ashley Lobo and his crew from Danceworx for a signature dance routine to be performed to the song. The flash mob performance will continue to take place thrice a day throughout the duration of the Auto Expo.
While the flash mob did lighten the mood at the Auto Expo, with the excitement spilling into the crowd, it did work to solve a very serious issue in India. As the participants danced to the backdrop of what Maruti is calling India’s first ever seatbelt song, the message was loud and clear, we need to start wearing seatbelts not just in the front but in the back seat of the car as well. As part of the campaign special Pledge Booths in the venue, visitors can fasten on the seatbelt, take the pledge, share their selfies on social media and win a special #PehniKya? branded cozy.
Speaking to the congregation at the Auto Expo 2018, Mr. R. S. Kalsi, Sr. Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, MSIL, said, “We are encouraged by the huge popularity of our #PehniKya? social campaign to promote seat belt usage among car occupants. The 360 campaign is designed to address the key factors for not wearing the seat belt which emerged from our national survey of car users.”
He added, “Auto Expo, with its vast scope and exposure, gives us the perfect opportunity to reach out to car enthusiasts especially youth.
