The next-generation 2018 Maruti Suzuki WagonR hatchback has just been spied in India for the very first time. The completely undisguised test mule has been snapped by a Team-BHP reader somewhere in Gurugram, Haryana. The interesting part about the captured test mule is that it does not seems to bear heavy resemblance to the existing WagonR model and hence can be badged as 'all-new'. The spy image only shows the rear end of the car that looks completely fresh. The thick chrome section that can be seen extending from one end to another offers the car a distinctive and upmarket appeal that is unlike any other WagonR model till date. Furthermore, the tail lamp and turning winkers of the new 2018 Maruti WagonR are clear lens type with LEDs and hence, it is a significant improvement over the current model. The rear windscreen is also bigger than the previous model, which is a welcome change. The roof tail light on the new model has gone away to offer a cleaner look. While the front end of the new 2018 Maruti WagonR is not visible, we believe that it will also carry some major changes when compared to the existing model.
While the car does not look like any WagonR model till date, it does has some similarities with the Suzuki Solio that is currently on sale in Japan and some international markets. However, instead of assuming that the Solio will make its presence felt in India, it is safe to believe that the model will arrive as the new 2018 Maruti Wagon-R only. The Suzuki Solio is being sold as a seven-seater model but it is quite unexpected that the new 2018 Maruti WagonR will come with such seating layout.
The test mule looks to be in stages of testing and hence, it is very unlikely that the new 2018 Maruti WagonR will make it to the Auto Expo 2018. However, there is a slight possibility that the company will showcase the new Maruti WagonR as a concept model at the biennial event. Expect the new generation Maruti WagonR to come at a significantly higher price than that of the current model. More details on the new 2018 Maruti WagonR in the coming days.
