After numerous images and spy shots, Maruti Suzuki has launched the 2022 Alto in India today. Priced at Rs 3.99 lakh onwards ex-showroom, the new Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 will be sold alongside the the company’s entry-level offering, the Alto 800. The new Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 is based on Maruti Suzuki’s fifth generation Heartect platform and gets the new 1.0-litre K-Series engine that made its debut with the new S-Presso.

The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Alto will continue to have a manual gearbox and an optional AMT unit. The new Alto will be available in four basic trims – Std, LXi, VXi, and VXi+ – which are further divided in to other variants, based on engine and gearbox choices.

The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Alto is based on the company’s Heartect platform and draws design inspiration from the new Celerio. The new Alto K10 will be available in a total of six colours: Solid White, Silky Silver, Granite Grey, Sizzling Red, Speedy Blue, and Earth Gold.

The new Maruti Suzuki Alto will have considerable changes compared to the older one, including its dimensions. The most notable difference is that the new Alto K10 is longer and taller than its predecessor, allowing for more leg and head room. Maruti Suzuki has optimised the interior of the hatchback to offer more space inside, especially for its second-row occupants.

Comfort and convenience features have also been updated in the form a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted audio and voice controls, a 4-speaker audio system, digital instrument cluster, and more. Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, speed-sensing door locks, seatbelts with pre-tensioners, and more.

Speaking about the most important highlight, the engine in the 2022 Alto K10 is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder K-Series unit that makes 65 bhp and 89 Nm of torque. The engine comes paired to a standard 5-speed manual gearbox and an optional AMT, which helps the new Alto return a mileage of 24.9 kmpl.
