Volvo have officially unveiled their new wagon the V60 internationally, we expect the V60 to be on sale in Indian markets by the end of this fiscal year. In a world full, of SUVs, that range from sub-four meter front wheel drive hatches on stilts to massive twin turbo V8 capable to crushing the 0-100 mark in under 10 seconds, Volvo’s V60 Wagon stands out like a sore thumb! But that is a good thing. If you’re a no-nonsense type of fellow, who believe that the world is full of sheep that couldn’t make original idea spark if you rubbed them all together. That’s not to say the new V60 is boring or wagon-y to look at. It’s smooth flowing lines ditch the sharp creases that have become norm on products out of the German stable. The V60 with it’s Thor’s Hammer headlamps and broad chromed grille, is the classy alternative to a world full of tasteless crossovers and compact-SUVs.
On the inside on the 2018 Volvo V60, you will see Volvo’s signature minimalistic design, where a large portrait aligned touchscreen has replaced most of the Switchgear making the console seem larger and clutter free.. Air conditioning, navigation, media all work out of the 9.0 inch display. The 2018 V60 has the practicality bit down too, with a 529 litre boot. Fold the rear seats, and that almost triples giving you a 1,364 litre cargo carry around. Interestingly the V60 will be available internationally with two plug-in hybrids. The most potent T8 hybrid produces 385 horsepower, while they will also have a range of petrol and diesel motors that might make it to India.
Naturally being a Volvo the V60 is expected to clear Euro NCAP with 5 stars, considering that it will get a vast array of airbags all-round the vehicle, aside from active safety features like e semi-autonomous Pilot Assist, which detect collision alongside a lane assist function. Volvo say they will start international deliveries for the V60 this september, although no final word on when the V60 will come to India has been made. We expect it to launch by the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
