Volkswagen India has launched its eighth generation Passat in India at a price of Rs 29.99 lakh for comfort line and Rs 32.99 lakh for Highline trim. Both the prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. The new Passat is the first sedan to be built on MQB platform and is 70 kgs lighter than its seventh generation model. The new Passat is powered with 2.0 litre TDI engine that produces 175 hp of power and 350 Nm of peak torque. The TDI engine is mated to a 6-speed DSG automatic transmission. The 2017 Passat gets features such as hands-free parking and one-touch boot opening like on the Skoda Superb. 2017 Volkswagen Passat has 80mm longer wheelbase. It measures in at 2,791mm which states that more space at the rear. The new Passat has 4,767mm in length and 1,832mm wide. The Passat is wider than the than its seventh generation model by 12 mm which means that shoulder room and headroom will also increase significantly. It gets a host of features such as Nappa leather seat upholstery and Panoramic Sunroof.Also, it gets the reverse camera with a 360-degree view and park assist.App connectIn addition, it gets the standard list of features, touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and three-zone air conditioning. The new Passat gives a fuel efficiency of 17.42 kmpl as rated by ARAI, although these figures are likely to vary in real-world use. The new Passat is available in six colours option-Oryx white, Deep Black Pearl Effect, Black oak brown metallic, Brit silver metallic, Atlantic blue metallic and Mangan Grey metallic.
In terms of safety, 9 airbags, ESP, ABS, ASR and Hill-start assist auto hold and tyre pressure monitoring system as standard across both variants. Volkswagen India is also Offering finance at Rs 29,990 a month along with a service pack including 2+2 years warranty. Bookings for the new Passat has begun pan-India, while deliveries should start sometime next month.
