As we reported earlier, Skoda has been testing a facelift of the Octavia in India and now there are new spy shots of the car. The facelifted sedan will receive cosmetic updates on the exteriors as well as interiors. According to the images, the facelifted Octavia will now get split LED headlamp setup with DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps) and redesigned bumpers with wider air intake grille up front. Along with these changes, the tail lamp cluster and the alloy wheel design will also be new.
Inside, the facelifted Octavia features a new three spoke steering wheel along with steering mounted controls, a touch screen infotainment system and an automatic climate control available in the current version of the sedan as well. In terms of safety, 2017 facelifted Octavia is expected to get parking assist which enables the vehicle to park by itself in a parking spot. This feature will be in addition to the other safety equipments such as ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), airbags, traction control and more.
Powering the the facelifted sedan will be existing set of 1.4-litre petrol, 1.8-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engine. While the 1.8-litre petrol engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch DSG automatic transmission, the 1.4-litre petrol comes with 6-speed manual gearbox.The diesel engine will be mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission.
Skoda is expected to launch facelifted Octavia by mid of 2017 and will command a slight premium over the current generation. In addition to the facelift of the premium sedan, the Czech carmaker is gearing up to launch the Kodiaq SUV which will be based on the Volkswagen's MQB platform and is expected to be launched at a price tag around the Rs 25 lakh mark.
