Maruti Suzuki will launch the third generation Dzire tomorrow and the company has already started taking the bookings of car at an amount of Rs 11,000. The new Dzire gets major updates at the exterior and the interiors. In addition, it's an all-new car based on a new platform and hence comes with many new features, some of them being first-in-segment. With the prices to be announced tomorrow here are the top five things that you should watch out for in the new Dzire.
The sedan will be available in variants- Lxi, Vxi/ Vxi (AGS), Zxi/ Zxi( AGS) and Zxi Plus( AGS) for petrol variants, while the diesel variants will be available in Ldi, Vdi, Vdi(AGS), Zdi/ Zdi (AGS) as well as Zdi Plus (AGS) trims. It will be offered in 6 paint schemes- Grey, white, silver with three new colours Brown, Red and Blue.
The 2017 Dzire will be based on the new HEARTECT platform and will be lighter then the existing version of Dzire. The HEARTECT platform, a modified platform of the one underpinning the Baleno helps in efficiently absorbing the collision impact and enhances the rigidity according to company claims. The Dzire diesel trims will be lighter by 105 kg for the diesel and 85 kg for petrol version. The kerb weight of all new Dzire ranges between 860 kg to 895 kg for petrol engine, while the diesel version weighs between 955 kg to 990 kg.
The new Dzire will be powered by a 1.2 K series petrol engine and a 1.3 litre DDiS diesel engine. These engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual and automatic transmission, which is known as AGS( Auto Gear Shift technology), making the Dzire the only car in its segment to offer automatic transmission on both petrol and diesel versions. The petrol engine produces 81 hp of power and 113Nm of torque, while the diesel engine churns out 73 hp of power and 190 Nm of torque. It has a fuel tank capacity of 37 litres and gives a claimed fuel efficiency of 22 kmpl for petrol variants and 28.40 kmpl for diesel variants.
The 2017 Dzire gets a large hexagonal grille with projector headlamps with DRL's at the front, while at the rear it gets a new tail cluster and an LED strip. In addition, it gets a chrome accents at the front grille as well as a rear section. The sedan travels on 14 inch steel wheels and 15 inch alloy wheels, depending on the variants. The Dzire measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,515mm in height, 1,735 mm in width and has a 2,450mm wheelbase. It has 163mm of ground clearance and gets an increased boot space of 378 litres from the existing version of Dzire.
The all new Dzire gets major updates in the interior such as a flat bottom steering wheel in black colour with faux wood and beige colour option on the seat upholstery. In addition, it gets an audio player compatible with Bluetooth, USB and AUX, steering mounted control, 4 door speaker and audio remote control which will be available on the Vxi/Vdi, Zxi/ Zdi. The top end variant Zxi Plus and Zdi plus gets a Smart play infotainment system with navigation, voice command and Android auto and Apple CarPlay.
The new Dzire gets ABS with EBD, dual airbags, ISOFIX, front seat belt with pre-tensioner and force limiter as standard across all the variants. In addition, it gets reverse parking sensors, front fog lamps, rear defogger, speed sensitive door locking and an anti theft security system.
2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire will compete with the likes of Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Ford Aspire in its segment. The current Dzire is sold at a price range of Rs. 5.27 lakh to Rs 8.58 Lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi, while it is expected that 2017 Dzire will be launched at a slightly higher price of around Rs 5.5 lakh.
