Fiat Chrysler Automobile has started production of petrol automatic variant of Compass last month. Now, the first batch of Compass with a 1.4-litre petrol engine in automatic variant has reached dealerships as reported by Car and Bike.FCA dealerships have started accepting bookings of the Jeep Compass' automatic variant at an amount of Rs 50,000. The deliveries will begin deliveries in first week of November 2017, according to company dealership. The Compass was launched on 31st July and in a phased manner, the company started delivery of diesel variants first from 6th August 2017. The 1.4 litre petrol engine produces 163 hp of power and 250Nm of torque and is offered in two variants- Sport trim and Limited. The petrol Sports trim is available with 6-speed manual transmission, while the Limited variants gets 7-speed DDCT transmission. The top variant get features such as 17-inch alloy wheels, 7-inch touch screen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition, it comes with safety features such as ABS with EPB, ISOFIX, Hill start assist, 6 airbags and select terrain 4WD system.
Recently, FCA India announced that the Compass has received 10,000 bookings and 92,000 enquires. With a rising demand of the SUV, the manufacturer has decided to ramp up the production at the Ranjangaon facility.Also the company is plans to introduce Compass 2.0 litre diesel variants with 9-speed automatic transmission and it is expected to be launch around next year. The 2.0 litre diesel engine produces 170 hp of power and 350Nm of torque and is available with 6-speed manual gearbox. With its aggresive pricing, the Jeep Compass competes with the likes of Mahindra XUV500. Due to increase in GST Cess, the prices of Compass has increased between Rs 21,000 to Rs 72,000, depending on variants. The petrol variants of the SUV now come in the range of Rs 15.16 lakh to Rs 19.67 lakh, while the diesel variant is now available in Rs 15.99 lakh to Rs 21.37 lakh.
