The Indian arm of the Korean automaker Hyundai Motor India has officially confirmed that it has received over 7000 bookings on its new generation Verna sedan. New Hyundai Verna made its market debut on August 22nd, 2017 and the pre-bookings commenced on August 4th, 2017. The company is confident of receiving about 10,000 orders by Diwali. Hyundai also claims about 70,000 enquiries on its latest offering. Hyundai Verna has an introductory price of Rs 7.99 - 12.93 lakh (Ex-Showroom) for its petrol variants and Rs 9.19 - 12.61 lakh on its diesel variants (Ex-Showroom). These prices are valid for first 20,000 Verna buyers only. 2017 Hyundai Verna uses the company's new K2 platform ‘super body structure’, which makes use of 50 percent advanced high-strength steel. On the exterior the sedan gets features a cascade design front grille, an electric sunroof, projector headlamps with LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps), projector fog lamps with chrome surrounds and two-piece LED tail lamps.
The 2017 Hyundai Verna is powered by a 1.6-litre Dual VTVT petrol and a 1.6 litre CRDi VGT diesel engine. The petrol variants produce 123 hp of maximum power and 151 Nm of torque. The diesel versions, on the other hand, generates 128 hp of power and 260 Nm of torque. The engines are paired to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol manual variants deliver a claimed fuel efficiency of 17.70 kmpl, while the automatic delivers 15.92 kmpl. The diesel powered manual variants claim a mileage of 24.75 kmpl and about 21.02 kmpl of the automatic trims.
The 2017 Hyundai Verna gets new features in its segments like front-ventilated seats and rear curtains. Also, it gets an eco coating that controls and eliminates foul smell if any from the cabin. In terms of safety, the sedan gets active and passive safety features that include ISOFIX as standard, impact sensing auto-door lock and cornering lamps.
