The 2017 Ford EcoSport has been spotted many times on Indian roads, suggesting that the launch will happen soon in the country soon. The company's dealer have confirmed that the 2017 EcoSport will be launched in late September or early October in time for the festive season and the car will be priced around Rs 1 lakh higher than the outgoing model. The dealers also confirmed that the deliveries of the vehicle will commence in November, 2017. The outgoing Ford EcoSport is priced between Rs 7.10 lakh and Rs 10.38 lakh, ex-showroom. This infers that the upcoming Ford EcoSport will be priced between around Rs 8 lakh and Rs 11 lakh, ex-showroom and will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Honda WR-V and the Mahindra TUV300 in the Compact-SUV segment.
The facelift EcoSport will be powered by the same 1.5 litre petrol and 1.0 litre EcoBoost petrol engine as well as the 1.5 litre diesel unit that also powers the existing model. The engines will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while some variants will also get an automatic transmission. It is also expected that the higher variants will get paddle shifters.
The new EcoSport will get updates both at the exterior as well inside the cabin. The exterior changes will include a redesigned bumper, reworked hexagonal front grille with the chrome finish and a silver scuff plate at the bottom section of the front bumper. The car will also feature projector headlamps with LED DRL's (Daytime Running Lamps), roof rails and 17-inch alloy wheels. The rear will boast of minor changes and will continue to feature same tailgate-mounted spare wheel.
The interior, on the other hand, will get an 8- inch touchscreen infotainment system with SYNC 3 compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The car manufacturer will also equip the 2017 EcoSport with a new instrument console and the steering mounted controls with voice recognition.
The upcoming EcoSport will get safety features such as ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) and dual front airbags as standard fitment. The top versions are expected to feature 6 airbags, reverse parking camera with sensors, Emergency Assist, rear defogger and speed sensing auto door locks.
