Hyundai India today launched the 2016 Hyundai Elantra at an introductory price of Rs. 12.99 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The next-generation Elantra features a new design and looks sharper and sleeker than its predecessor. The sedan features a larger signature hexagonal front grille with chrome accents, new HID projector headlamps with LED daytime running lamps (in top-end variants only as the lower variants gets halogen lamps) and new fog lamp housing in the front bumper.

The cars also get new alloy wheels, body coloured ORVMs with turn indicators and electric sunroof with pinch guard in the top-end trim. The Korean carmaker has also worked on the rear of the car which now features LED split tail lamps and redesigned boot. The car rides on 10-spoke, 16-inch alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin, one can see all-black interiors which consist of leather seats, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation, voice recognition, Bluetooth, Aux-in and USB connectivity. Convenience features include a dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, 10-way electrically adjustable seat with electric lumbar support and start/stop button. These features, however, are available in the higher variants of the new Elantra. The car is also equipped with Hyundai's Drive Mode Select with two driving modes - Eco & Sport.

For the safety of occupants, the Korean car manufacturer has equipped the 2016 Hyundai Elantra with standard features like dual front airbags and ABS. The high-end variants have received six airbags (front, side and curtain), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), and Hill Start Assist (HSA).

The sixth-generation Hyundai Elantra is powered by two engines, a 2.0 L, 4-cylinder, dual VTVT petrol that develops 150 hp of power. The 1.6 L, CRDi, diesel develops 126 hp of maximum power. Both the engines are mated to a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol engine delivers a fuel efficiency of 14.6 km/l, while the diesel motor offers a fuel economy of 22.5 km/l.

The new Hyundai Elantra is available with a choice of 5 body colours - Marine Blue, Polar White, Sleek Silver, Phantom Black and Red Passion. Hyundai is also offering special customer care programme with 3 years or unlimited kilometre warranty, 3 years or 30,000 km free maintenance, 3 years roadside assistance, 3 times map care update and 3 home visits - 15th day, 6th months and 1.5 years.
