The all-new Yamaha MT-15 was launched in India a few days back at a price of Rs 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). At this price, the bike is almost Rs 3,000 cheaper than the R15 V3.0 and is indeed expensive looking at the segment it falls in. Thankfully, the company's official accessories offered with the motorcycle look sensible and affordable in terms of pricing and these are quite basic. The official accessories for the Yamaha MT-15 have been priced in the range of Rs 190 to Rs 750. All these accessories are convenience-enhancing bits and have nothing to do with the performance upgrade.
The cheapest one is the tank pad that can be yours for Rs 190. There is also an optional seat cover and mobile holder on offer, both of which are priced at Rs 350 each. Furthermore, the pillion footrests are on offer at an additional price of Rs 450. The engine skid plate is also being made available by the company as an optional accessory and the same can be yours for a price of Rs 500. There is also a handlebar mounted USB charging port that you can get for Rs 750.
Powering the Yamaha MT-15 is the same 155cc, liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine mated to a six-speed transmission system that powers the R15 V3.0. The fuel injected motor is good for developing a maximum power output of 19 bhp along with a peak torque of 15 Nm. The motorcycle offers a comfortable riding position and is a lot easy and relaxed compared to its fully faired counterpart. The Yamaha MT-15 challenges the likes of the KTM 125 Duke, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and Bajaj Pulsar NS200 in the segment but is priced significantly higher than its rivals. That being said, will the MT-15 be able to replicate the same success as the highly popular R15 V3.0 is what we need to wait and watch.
