TVS Motors drops in domestic sales in February 2017, export grew by 9.8 percent

TVS Motor Company has recorded lower sales numbers in February 2017 as compared to February 2016. However, the company's sales grew in exports.

TVS Motor Company has announced its sales for the month of February 2017. The company has registered 211,470 units during the month as compared to 219,467 units in February 2016. In the two-wheeler segment, TVS has sold 206,247 units in February 2017 as against 211,148 during the same month in 2016.

The domestic sales stood at 172,611 units in February 2017 which is less than 183,199 units in February 2016. However, the scooter segment grew by 2.9 percent and the company sold 69,020 units last month as against 67,089 units in February 2016. The motorcycles sales accounted for 58,994 units in February 2017 corresponding to 77,093 units in February 2016 which is a considerable dip.

In the three-wheeler segment, TVS Motor Company registered 5,223 units last month as against 8,319 units during the same month in 2016. The exports, on the other hand, saw an increase and stood at 38,215 units in February 2017 over 34,804 units in February 2016. The total exports of the company grew by 9.8 percent. The automaker has also registered a growth of 20.3 percent in two-wheeler exports by selling 33,636 units in February 2017 as against 27,949 units in February 2016.

Before 1st April, 2017, the company will upgrade the models that are BSIII compliant to BSIV compliance of emission norms. In the current lineup the Wego is the only model to come with BSIV compliance.
