Triumph India has launched the Tiger Explorer 1200 XCx at Rs 18.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 1200cc Tiger will come to India through the completely built up route (CBU), and will only be available in very limited numbers. It’s probably because of this that Triumph is only bringing one variant of the 8 that they sell internationally. Speaking of competition, the Tiger Explorer XCx will take on the likes of the Ducati Multistrada 1200S and the BMW R1200GS in the subcontinent.
The Tiger Explorer XCx is the flagship tiger, that is sold with full off-road orientation, and will feature wire spoke wheels, semi-active suspension and all the electronic wizardry that one can hope for; Heated grips and all. While cosmetically speaking the Tiger looks more or less the same, the eagle eyed reader will spot the muscular line and electronically adjustable windscreen. Triumph’s signature 1,215 cc inline three engine remains the same however minor updates to the tuning and cycle parts have allowed for more torque and wider powerband. The engine makes 137 hp and 123 Nm of twist. Also included in terms of kit is a ride-by-wire throttle and an array of riding modes that include - Road, Rain and Off-Road, as well as a programmable Rider mode. The Tiger will also get a semi-active suspension system which adjusts the ride-quality, cornering ABS which helps when braking hard into corners and IMU which delivers power and braking depending on the bike's lean angle.
The bike is available for purchase, through bookings but will be available in very limited numbers which would mean if you want the 2017 Tiger Explorer XCx the time to act is now.
