Okinawa Praise electric scooter has just been launched in India at a price of Rs 59,889 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Okinawa Praise is the second offering by the company for India after Ridge that was launched earlier this year. The bookings for the Okinawa Praise had already begun on November 24 across the company's dealerships in India at a token amount of Rs 2000. The Okinawa Praise comes with a sporty body design along with LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) up front that lend a premium and upmarket appeal. On the sides of the apron, one can also see neatly designed LED inserts. The handlebar of the Okinawa Praise has been integrated with handlebar weights that you must have seen only on motorcycles till date. The Okinawa Praise has been assisted with dual disc brakes up front along with a single rear disc brake that is a segment first feature. The scooter gets a fully digital instrument cluster that has an easy to read layout. The Okinawa Praise rides on 90/90 tubeless tyres mounted over stylish 12-inch alloy wheels.
Talking of what powers the Okinawa Praise, the scooter comes with a BLDC motor that has a maximum output of 2500 watt. Furthermore, all thanks to the 72V/45 Ah lithium-ion battery, the Okinawa Praise offers an impressive range of 170 to 200 km per full charge. Talking of top speed, the scooter can hit a 75 kmph mark that makes it the fastest electric scooter currently on sale in India. The suspension system of the Okinawa Praise comprises of gas charged telescopic forks up front along with gas charged twin shock absorbers for the rear.
As far as safety features are concerned, the Okinawa comes with several interesting ones such as anti-theft sensors, side stand sensors and a lot more. The scooter also comes equipped with combi brake mechanism under which both brakes get applied automatically when the rider presses the rear brake lever only. This is done in order to ensure a safe and effective braking and minimise chances of skidding. The said feature also comes in popular conventional petrol scooters like Activa and Jupiter. Okinawa calls it Electronic Assisted Braking System (E-ABS) and it supports regenerative braking as well.
The Okinawa Praise will be sold through the company's 100 dealerships in India at present. The company has plans to expand this number to 150 outlets by March 2018 and eventually to 500 stores by the end of 2020. Moreover, the scooter will also be sold through online mode as the company has tied up with multiple e-commerce websites.
