Honda Motorcycles and Scooters has introduced the new BS-IV (Bharat Stage-IV norms) CB 125 Shine SP starting at Rs. 60,914, ex-showroom, Delhi. The new Honda CB Shine SP is the 5th model to be equipped with the BS-IV engine. The new CB 125 Shine SP is now available with BS4 compliance and gets AHO (Auto Headlamp On). The 2017 CB 125 Shine SP gets low resistance rolling HET tyre (Honda patent technology for new tyre compound), which aids increase in fuel efficiency, as per the company claim.
The CB Shine SP is the first motorcycle in the company lineup to be equipped with HET Tyre. It has been developed and patented by Honda (Patent received in 3 countries including Japan, applied in India). The HET Tyre uses a new compound that helps in reducing the energy loss, while at the same time maintains optimum grip and performance. The rolling resistance is reduced by up to 15-20 percent, which, in turn, improves fuel efficiency.
The new CB 125 Shine SP is powered by a BS-IV compliant 124 cc, air cooled, 4 stroke HET( Honda Eco's Technology) engine which produces 10.16 hp of power and 10.30 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission. According to the company, the gearbox helps in reducing vibrations at high-speed and makes long rides calm and comfortable.
Braking duties are handled by 130 mm disc or 240 mm disc at front depending on variants and 130 mm drum brakes at the rear equipped with optional Honda's Combi Brake System (CBS) with equaliser, which is made mandatory by the Government of India for all two-wheelers up to 125 cc engine, before 1st April, 2018 in the country. The equaliser in CBS distributes braking force equally between front and rear wheels when the rider applies the rear brake. This helps in reducing braking distance and improves balance.
The motorcycle measures 2,007 mm in length, 762 mm in width, 1,085 mm in height, has a wheelbase of 1266 mm and a ground clearance of 160 mm. The kerb weight of the motorcycle is 123 kg(CBS) and it has a fuel tank capacity of 10.5 litres. The new CB 125 Shine SP also gets new body colours, namely; new Pearl Siren Blue and Imperial Red Metallic with new body graphics. The motorcycle is also offered with sharp headlight with carved visor, digital analogue console and the dual tone side-cover. Other highlights of the new Honda CB Shine SP includes 5-split alloy wheels with disc brake, 2-piece designed modern muffler, long and comfortable seats and longer wheel-base. The two-wheeler has also increased the ground clearance as well as improved the 5 step adjustable suspension on the CB Shine SP.
