After launching the updated R 1300 GS in India, BMW is gearing up to launch the F900 GS, which will replace the F850 GS in the motorcycle maker’s lineup. The new 900 GS has shed weight and looks more capable off-road compared to the motorcycle it replaces.

The new BMW F900 GS has lost around 14kg compared to the F850 GS, and part of that weight shedding is because BMW has dropped the large front beak. The new engine has also helped save weight on the motorcycle.

Apart from just shedding weight, the engineers at BMW have revised the ergonomics of the new F900 GS, by bringing the handlebar slightly closer to the rider and lowering the pegs. This is made to make the motorcycle more off-road friendly, and the flat enduro-styled seat adds to the overall aim.

Now coming to the engine, the motor is new. The 900cc parallel twin now makes 105bhp and 93Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle gets a TFT display, a revised engine map, traction control, keyless start, and much more.

The updated BMW F900 GS is expected to be launched in India later this month, and when launched, expect the motorcycle to carry a slight bump in price over the 850.
