KTM has announced that they will their middleweight adventure-tourer the KTM 790 Adventure, will break cover at EICMA 2018, but strangely they have also said that they have no plans of bringing the adventure sport to India. Which is strange since bikes like the Triumph Tiger have got the ADV market going and have opened up more people to the idea of a good on an off-road motorcycle that may not be as expensive as the Triumph Tiger. We got our first glimpse of the KTM 790 Adventure on test late last year. Since then KTM has managed to keep the 790 out of the public eye before the unveil at EICMA. The holy grail of motorcycle shows the EICMA will run between the 7-12th of November 2017. Although not much is known about exact specs of the ADV motorcycle, it’s likely to go up against the 800 Tigers and the Africa Twin. Based on this we could expect the 790 to make something to the tune of 100 hp and is likely to get a 6-speed transmission mated to its Duke 790 sourced motor.

Going by the spy-shots, the new KTM is likely to get all-LED headlamps, and twin fuel tanks for extended range. It will also get an LCD dashboard that is infused with the front cowl. The rear sub-frame also looks wider and suggest that there is provision for mounting panniers. The wheels will get steel spoked rims, the front wheels are likely to be 21-inch while the rear wheels are likely to be 18-inch wheels.  The rims will fit both offroad and dual-purpose tyres depending on your needs. The front suspension duties will be done through a long travel suspension and a horizontally adjustable rear mono-shocks.

Which brings us to why KTM does not intend to bring it to India? KTM has an assembly unit in Pune which already build their Duke and RC series, which means that 790 Adventure could reach India in CKD format meaning that it is likely to be a bargain in comparison to the Triumph Tiger 800 series!
