The India-spec Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 was spotted for the first time in India a few days back in a completely undisguised state. Now, clearer images of the motorcycle are circulating on the web hinting towards the nearing launch timeline. The India-bound model looks almost the same as the one that is being sold globally in the picture by Powerdrift. However, on taking a closer look, one can easily notice that a handful of cost-cutting measures have been carried out to keep the pricing in the favour of audience. For instance, the new Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 ditches the front inverted forks and get conventional telescopic units. The Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 is one of the most anticipated motorcycles of the year and has been snapped in a dual tone shade of blue and black. Earlier, the motorcycle was spotted in a silver shade and these two can be safely assumed as two of the confirmed colour options for India.
Powering the India-spec model will be the same 155cc engine that comes with the international model and will most likely get Variable Valve Timing (VVT) technology. There have been some reports on the internet suggesting that the company would not be employing VVT in the motor in order to further bring the cost down. However, we believe that Yamaha would not want to hamper the performance of this bike in India, especially in such a market where the bike is a major hit among the buyers. The power and torque figures of the new Yamaha R15 V3.0 stand at 19 hp and 14.7 Nm. Gearbox will be a six-speed unit that will further come assisted with a slipper clutch.
The Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 is expected to be launched in India early next year at the 2018 Auto Expo. The motorcycle will make its entry to India as one of the most powerful bikes in the 150cc territory. The bike rivals against the likes of Honda CBR150R and Suzuki GSX-R150 internationally. Expect the pricing to stay somewhere close to Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom).
