Honda might make a smaller and cheaper Africa Twin adventure tourer for younger riders!

Judging by the engines on offer, it might get a 650 cc twin motor just like Honda’s original Dakar hero that inspired the series of Adventure tourers

We love the Honda Africa Twin, we love the heritage that comes with the name. We love the fact it is one of the better on/off road motorcycles available right now. Especially considering the fact that the Africa Twin Adventure Sport is on the horizon and it’s even more capable than the standard model. But all said and done, the Africa Twin, is a very expensive motorcycle. It is also really quick and really heavy, which means that an off-road excursion gone wrong can start costing you big bucks. And no one likes an expensive to break the off-road machine. What if you could have all of the Africa Twin swag without it costing you an arm and a leg every time you drop it on a rock.

Well Honda now say that they will be making a smaller one, although they were speaking of global markets at the time, not specifically about in India per say. A half-way sort of model to attract younger riders to the adventure lifestyle. Although in the true Honda spirit, they also said it was something that they will develop but aren’t specifically working on right now. It's the thought I guess. And we couldn't agree more.

Now that leaves room for calculated speculation, otherwise known as automotive journalism. We know that Honda has a 650 twin tuned for touring and a 750 twin tuned for dirt. We suspect that Honda will go with the  650 cc motor so as not to invade the Africa Twin 999cc space. The 650 twin might need some work but will be even more special considering that it will be a bit of throwback to the original Dakar winner. However, this is all still speculation right now even for Honda, but at least they are on the right path.
