Honda, after issuing a recall for the Goldwing and the CBR1000RR in the US and Germany, has now extended the recall to India as well. The issue is due to a faulty fuel pump, which may fail and won’t let the engine start again.
Honda India recall: Official statement
In an official statement, Honda stated, “As per defect information, The fuel pump impellers may have been improperly moulded, which can cause them to deform and result in fuel pump failure. If the fuel pump module becomes inoperative, the engine may not start or can stall without indication while riding.”
“The inspection and replacement will be done free of cost irrespective of the warranty status of the vehicle. As soon as the parts are available, we will notify you about parts replacement.”
The affected motorcycles include the Honda GL1800 Gold Wing manufactured between December 2017 and December 2023, and the litre-class CBR1000RR, manufactured between September 2017 to April 2020.
