Honda Motor Indonesia has unveiled the new CBR250RR, which features multiple segment-exclusive features and technologies. The new CBR250RR, although unconfirmed for India, is expected to be launched sometime next year in a trimmed-down format. The styling for the new motorcycle is sharp and edgy, making it a standout in the 250cc motorcycle segment. With a 1,389 mm wheelbase, the CBR250RR has a ground clearance of 145 mm and a seat height of 790 mm.
Although, the official website hasn't published power output figures, the engine is a 249.7 cc liquid-cooled, 8-valve, parallel-twin unit. The engine runs a 11.5:1 compression ratio and and the fuel-injected motor is mated to a six-speed transmission. Interestingly, the CBR250RR features throttle-by-wire, which uses sensors instead of wires for throttle operation. Performance figures too haven't been disclosed yet but equipped with a new Truss frame, the lightweight motorcycle is claimed to offer segment-leading acceleration.
The CBR250RR's suspension includes inverted telescopic units upfront and a mono-shock at the rear. Hydraulic single-disc at the front and rear is combined with ABS as standard and the front and rear tyres are rated at 110/70-17 and 140/70-17, respectively. While there is no official word, the CBR250RR seems unlikely to be launched in India in its present format as with its modern electronic features, the price tag might be too high to be competitive. We could however see a stripped-down version of this motorcycle minus some of the electronic options in order to keep the cost in check.
