In order to curb the sales of fake parts, Hero MotoCorp conducted a series of raids on the manufacturer and traders in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Under the supervision of the Ahmedabad Police, the two-wheeler manufacturer raided five establishments, including Simandhar Automobiles, Auto Needs, Gayatri Auto Spares, Devan Auto Spares Parts and Bhairav Auto Parts.This has resulted in about 800 counterfeit parts were seized.
The company has also registered an FIR against the above-mentioned traders and manufacturers for violations of the Copyright Act. These include Bakulbhai Rashikhlal Shah (Simandhar Automobiles), Alpes Balachand Shah (Auto Needs), Jasvantshi Bachushi Chuhana (Gayatri Auto Spares), Sunil J. Vidhani (Devan Auto Spares) and Sanjay Chinu Bhai Shah (Bhairav Auto Parts).
Surinder Nakra, Proprietor, Navin Auto Agencies, the authorised parts distributor of HMCL in Ahmedabad for over 16 years, said, “We appreciate the efforts of Hero MotoCorp in fighting counterfeiters. This initiative will not only deter the manufacturers and traders of spurious parts but also help the genuine sellers by enhancing customer confidence.”
The automaker launched in April 2016 launched an initiative ‘Fight Fake, Stay Safe’ to ensure the safety of vehicles and those riding it. Since then, Hero with the help of local police has seized more than 21 lakh fake parts and counterfeit labels across the country. A total of 77 raids was conducted by the two-wheeler manufacturer in 26 cities. The company will expand this drive to other cities too in order take strict action against such unscrupulous traders who sell counterfeit Hero spare parts to the customers. The Hero MotoCorp's Hero Genuine Parts (HGP) has the Unique Parts Identification (UPI) code and the customers can confirm the genuineness by sending UPI code through SMS on 9266171171.
