Deepening their partnership, Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson have unveiled additions to their model line-up. On Saturday, they announced the launch of the tech-loaded X440 T, alongside the introduction of Harley-Davidson’s ultra-premium Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) models: the CVO Street Glide and the CVO Road Glide.

The launch marks an expansion for the brand in India, bridging the gap between accessible motorcycling and the pinnacle of American touring.

Tech Upgrades and Enhanced Safety in the X440 T

Following the market reception of the Harley-Davidson X440 in July 2023, Hero-Harley introduced the X440 T, a variant designed to offer a more sport-oriented riding experience than the X440. “While the original X440 brought the Harley badge to a wider demographic, the new T variant focuses on modernisation and rider safety,” Ravi Avalur, head, Harley-Davidson Business Unit, Hero MotoCorp, told FE.

“Key upgrades include the ride-by-wire technology offering a smoother throttle response; enhanced safety thanks to the inclusion of switchable traction control and switchable ABS for the rear tyre; ride modes as riders can toggle between ‘Road’ and ‘Rain’ modes; ergonomic updates as we have a redesigned rear subframe with a new tail section and grab handles to improve pillion comfort; and the bike features a ‘panic braking alert’ system – if deceleration exceeds 2.4 m/s, all indicators blink four times faster than standard to warn trailing traffic.”

He added that the new model strengthens Hero-Harley’s position in the premium category. “The X440 T represents the next strategic step, delivering aspirational, high-quality products that align with the evolving preferences of modern Indian riders,” he said.

Full Spectrum Strategy

While the X440 T targets the mid-weight category, the brand has not neglected its core enthusiast base. The introduction of the CVO Street Glide and the CVO Road Glide bring Harley-Davidson’s ‘grand American touring’ experience to Indian shores. These limited-production models represent the top tier of styling and performance in the manufacturer’s global portfolio.

Kolja Rebstock, V-P of International Markets at Harley-Davidson, said that the introduction of these flagship models underscores the automaker’s commitment to delivering the full Harley-Davidson experience, from accessible entry points to the pinnacle of grand American touring.

To make the line-up more accessible, Hero-Harley have announced a recalibration of the X440 pricing, and now the X440 Vivid starts at Rs 2,34,500 (lower than the previous price of Rs 2,59,500), and the X440 S starts at Rs 2,54,900 (lower than the previous price of 2,79,500). Bookings for the new X440 T have opened, and deliveries will start in January 2026.
