Italian bikemaker, Ducati, in order to augment its surefootedness in India, has inaugurated its first dealership in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. One of the state's most renowned business groups, Supernova Group opened the 6,000 sq ft facility on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway under the name of Motonova Superbikes on September 5, 2016.

Ravi Avalur, Managing Director of Ducati India said, “With the growing demand for premium motorcycles in Gujarat, Ahmedabad is key to our growth plan in India and our partnership with Motonova Superbikes lets us deliver an unparalleled level of customer ownership experience to the motorcycling community.” This showroom will cater to all aftersales services along with sale of the entire Ducati model line-up currently available in India namely Monster 821, Diavel, all variants of the Scrambler, Multistrada, 959 Panigale, 1299 Panigale, 1299 Panigale S and the flagship Panigale R which would be available on order.

Jainit Mistry, Managing Director, Motonova Superbikes Pvt Ltd. said, “Inquiries have been flowing in even before we have opened our doors. We’re very proud to announce our partnership with Ducati and to bring the iconic Italian brand to Gujarat. With a large Audi network in the state, we have over eight years of experience in successfully serving premium clients in the luxury automobile sector and will provide the same Ducati global standard of customer experience and service.”

The company has also planned to expand its product portfolio with the addition of the Hypermotard 939 as they have started to accept booking for the Supermotard class superbike for Rs 2 lakh. It is expected to be priced around the Rs 11 lakh mark, ex-showroom, Mumbai. Power is derived from a 1078cc, 90-degree V-Twin motor that is capable of churning out 114hp of max power at 9000rpm and 98Nm of peak torque at 7500 rpm. Weighing at 180 kgs, this litre-class is capable of achieving 201 kmph. This, however, in practical terms might be difficult to attain due to the minimal weight and wind blast protection. That said, like all Ducatis, this will have its own cult following and would be a completely different identity in the company's line-up, similar to other models sold in the country.
