A day after teasing it, BMW Motorrad has started accepting bookings for the CE 02 electric scooter. The CE 02 will be the first electric two-wheeler to emerge from the TVS-BMW partnership. The electric scooter is being locally manufactured at TVS’ Hosur plant and it will be exported to foreign markets as well.
Interested buyers can book the CE 02 at their nearest BMW Motorrad showroom. Although BMW calls it a scooter, it is essentially a crossover between scooter and motorcycle, similar to a moped.
BMW CE 02 expected details
The BMW CE 02 boasts a functional design, prioritising simplicity and minimalism. The front features a compact flyscreen above the square-shaped headlamp, complemented by golden-coloured front forks. The flat, single-piece seat is colour-matched with the side panels, while the saree guard and rear tyre hugger with a number plate mount are neatly integrated into the rear wheel hub.
In terms of hardware, the CE 02 features an upside-down fork suspension at the front and an offset gas-charged monoshock at the rear. It rides on 14-inch black alloy wheels, with disc brakes at both ends providing stopping power.
Expected features include a 3.5-inch TFT instrument panel with connectivity options, USB-C charging, and keyless ignition. The CE 02 is powered by an air-cooled synchronous motor, drawing energy from two removable 2 kWh batteries, offering a range of up to 90 km on a single charge. The motor produces 15 bhp and reaches a top speed of 95 kmph.
Three riding modes are available: Flow, Surf, and Splash, along with a reverse mode. The battery can be charged using a standard 0.9 kW charger (5 hours 12 minutes) or a fast 1.5 kW charger (3 hours 30 minutes). Pricing is expected to be around Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom), considering it being locally manufactured in India.
