Benelli has announced that they will introduce a fully-faired version of the TNT 300, the Tornado 302R aka BN 302R in India by mid-January 2017. Earlier speculated to be the Tornado 302R, the final name for the new offering from DSK Benelli in India will be BN 302R
Based on the TNT 300, the Benelli BN 302R will be powered by the same 300 cc, parallel-twin engine, that has been witnessed doing duty in the naked sportsbike. Power generated by this motor is 35 bhp at a peaky 12,000 rpm and 27 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm. This power is sent to the rear wheel via a six-speed transmission and the braking is courtesy a front and rear disc brake setup. ABS or Anti-locking Braking System will be a part of the standard equipment.
The key change in the upcoming BN 302R is the lighter frame which would make the fully-faired motorcycle easier to handle than the naked sportsbike. That said, the added fairing, although reducing wind blast would increase the weight by a considerable margin. Overall, on paper, the riding experience on the new offering from Benelli should be more engaging than the TNT 300.
The Benelli BN 302R is expected to be priced around Rs 3 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi and will compete with the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 300.
