Kawasaki officially entered the motorcycle market in India through a collaboration with Bajaj Autos, and Bajaj and Kawasaki motorcycles were being sold and serviced at the Probiking centres since 2009. However, this alliance has now come to an end. The companies' sales and after sales alliance will come to an end on 1st April. 2017. The two brands will continue to maintain their co-operative relationship across the rest of the world for current and future businesses. In India, Kawasaki will now be wholly managed by India Kawasaki Motors Pvt Ltd (a 100% subsidiary of Kawasaki Heavy Industries Japan).
This will not just be the end of a business partnership, but will also affect Kawasaki owners directly. Bajaj Autos has a well established presence through its Probiking network in the country. Kawasaki's only way of reaching out to a vast market was through Bajaj. However, now the Japanese brand's reach across the country will be limited until it expands. For example, there is now only one authorised Kawasaki dealer and service centre in Delhi and NCR region.
Bajaj has been vocal in pointing out that the brand wants to focus on KTM. Hence, Probiking centres are now dedicated dealerships for KTM.
It is also notable that Kawasaki has been out of Probiking service centres for quite some time now, and the brand's new service centres are so far not operational. Hence, it has not been possible to get a Kawasaki motorcycle serviced in the past week, neither will it be for about the next 10-12 days. If your bike is due service or needs some new parts, we're afraid it will not happen soon.
