2017 MV Agusta Brutale 800 is set to launch in India next month. Likely to carry a hefty price tag of Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the 2017 model is still undergoing homologation and will arrive in India through the SKD (semi knocked down) route, and will be assembled at the Kinetic plant, as per a report on CarandBike.
The new motorcycle has been given cosmetic, as well as mechanical upgrades. It will now come with full LED headlights with DRLs, a redesigned tail section and passenger seat with concealed grab rails, revised tail-light, LED indicators and a new instrument panel, handlebar and controls.
The chassis too has been tweaked being given a longer wheelbase and an extended trail. It is now powered by a 796cc in-line three-cylinder with 12-valves and counter-rotating crankshaft which generate 109 hp and 83 Nm of torque at rpm as low as 3800.
The 2017 Brutale 800 gets a ride-by-wire throttle and riding modes. It is equipped with 8 level traction control system and an electronic EAS (Electronically Assisted Shift) 2.0 shift assist for clutchless shifts and a hydraulic slipper clutch.
MV Agusta have retained their signature three pipe exhaust. Braking is covered by twin 320 mm discs with Brembo callipers up front and a single 220 mm disc at the rear, and is assisted by a twin channel ABS. The stock tyres are Pirelli Diablo Rosso 3 rubber.
It stands to compete against the Triumph Street Triple, Kawasaki Z900 and Ducati Monster 821. However, this competition will be in terms of power figures as the others will win the price battle. The 2017 MV Agusta is expected to be priced around Rs 15 lakh, which is quite a lot higher than say the Z900, which is priced at Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
