Kawasaki has confirmed its participation in the Auto Expo to be held in February 2018, according to a report on ETAuto. Kawasaki had so far kept away from being a part of the Auto Expo, however now post its divorce from Bajaj Auto, the Japanese motorcycle brand seems all set to take on the Indian two-wheeler market on its own. Kawasaki officially entered India through a collaboration with Bajaj Auto, and Bajaj and Kawasaki motorcycles were previously sold and serviced at the Probiking centres since 2009. However, this alliance including sales and after sales officially came to an end on 1st April 2017. Bajaj had been vocal in pointing out that the brand wants to focus on KTM. Hence, Probiking centres are now dedicated dealerships for the Austrian motorcycles. The two brands continue to maintain their co-operative relationship across the rest of the world for current and future businesses. In India, Kawasaki is now be wholly managed by India Kawasaki Motors Pvt Ltd, a 100% subsidiary of Kawasaki Heavy Industries Japan.

Kawasaki's most affordable motorcycle in India is the Z250, which is priced at Rs 2.99 lakh. The brand is expected to showcase models from various categories, including Ninja ZX-10RR, the recently launched Z900 and Ninja 1000, the smallest in the company's lineup Z250, the adventure tourer Versys 650, the supersport Ninja ZX-14R, among others.

Also recently, the Japanese motorcycle maker moved out its assembly operations from Bajaj Auto’s Akurdi plant to its brand-new plant in Chakan. The restructuring in the organisation and its own assembly plant should help Kawasaki charge towards better growth in the country.

Kawasaki happens to have one of the largest product lineups among the premium motorcycle brands in the country - 18 plus models. The problem has been that the company currently has lesser number of dealerships in the country than it has models on offer. Just 14 touch points, which also include after-sales service, had restricted its customer base by a large extent. Kawasaki's presence at the expo should help it in improving the brand perception.
