Auto Expo 2018 is inching closer and the good news is that UM Motorcycles will launch its most affordable motorcycle at the biennial event. Reports on the internet suggest that the new motorcycle will be called Renegade Duty 230. The motorcycle has been recently snapped by folks at CarToq when the camouflaged test mule was doing rounds in Delhi. As one can see in the spy shots, the upcoming UM Renegade Duty 230 will not come with a bold or bulky design when compared to its 279cc siblings. Instead, the bike will come with a quite conventional language and hence, it will look like a basic cruiser. The spied UM Renegade Duty 230 will offer an upright riding posture and it looks to have adopted the philosophy of a laid back cruiser. The small LED tail lamp accompanies the clear lens turning winkers and looks considerably different when compared to other Renegade models. The new UM Renegade Duty 230 gets a pillion backrest as well that is quite beneficial on long distance rides. The motorcycle is also seen with a split step-up seating layout.
In terms of braking, the test mule is seen with a disc brake up front along with a drum brake at the rear. An ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) may not be offered in the favour of cost-cutting. The suspension system of the UM Renegade Duty 230 comprises of conventional telescopic forks up front along with twin spring shock absorbers at the rear. As the name suggests, the upcoming UM Renegade Duty 230 will get its power from a 230cc, air-cooled, single cylinder engine mated to a five-speed transmission system. The complete feature list of the bike will be announced at Auto Expo 2018.
The new UM Renegade Duty 230 is expected to be launched in the Indian two-wheeler market at a price of a little over Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom). The bike will take on the likes of Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 and Street 220 in the entry-level cruiser territory. More details to be revealed at Auto Expo 2018.
