Mahindra & Mahindra unveiled a large array of vehicles in varying segments today at the Auto Expo 2018. As promised by the homegrown brand, Mahindra unveiled the 'Future of Mobility' concepts at the expo and lined up its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio. Mahindra says that with this range of vehicles, it is future ready and that they are based on '3Cs' - Clean, Connected and Convenient. Mahindra's presence at the 2018 Auto Expo was marked by the global unveiling of the Rexton, the SsangYong Motor's new G4 Rexton with Mahindra badging. Mahindra also unveiled what is the first convertible SUV in the country in the form of the TUV Stinger.
The Rexton will be launched in India under an all-new brand name and is Ssangyong's flagship SUV in international markets. The G4 Rexton comes with a seven-speed Mercedes-Benz automatic transmission as its new 2.2L engine that makes 178 hp and 420 Nm of torque. The Rexton is equipped with HID headlamps, LDE DRLs, electric sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, ventilated seats, 8" touchscreen infotainment system with GPS navigation, nine airbags, electric parking brake and more.
Unveiled alongside the Rexton was the Mahindra TUV Stinger at the Auto Expo 2018. The TUV Stinger concept blends the practicality of an SUV and the styling of a convertible. It is powered by a mHawk engine that puts puts out 140 hp and 320 Nm.
Another highlight at Mahindra's pavilion is the eKUV100, which is India's first electric mini SUV. Mahindra eKUV100 promises to combine the benefits of an SUV and those of an electric vehicle. The electric motor mounted on the eKUV100 boasts of a range of about 140 km on one charge, and optional fast charging which can extend its range by 80% in less than an hour. Mahindra eKUV100 will also feature smartphone connectivity, remote diagnostics, cabin pre-cooling, location tracking and it records the driving pattern.
The eKUV100, in fact, is only one of the many EVs unveiled by Mahindra at the Auto Expo 2018. Others include UDO - a two-seater electric pod concept, ATOM - an urban mobility solution, Treo - a lithium-ion battery-powered three-wheeler and e20 NXT - a refreshed version of the e2oPlus.
