Auto Expo 2018 will host the unveiling or even launch of several of brand new two-wheelers, while some will be concepts that will eventually head to their production-ready forms. Considering the launches and unveiling that are lined up, the trend, it seems is moving towards more powerful scooters. TVS Ntorq 125 was recently launched and is a sporty powerful scooter, and other brands like Hero Suzuki, Yamaha are also going to lift the covers from their 125 and 150cc scooters. Besides more powerful scooters, the focus is also on electric mobility. Two-wheeler giants like Honda are expected to introduce their electric two-wheelers during that Auto Expo 2018. There will also be several new entrants in the market, such as Twenty Two Motors. Here are the top five scooters to look forward to at the 2018 Auto Expo:
Hero MotoCorp is expected to roll out a new 125cc scooter at the Auto Expo 2018. Considering the increasing popularity of more powerful scooters, Hero is developing the new scooter in-house on its own and is expected to launch it later this year. The new 125cc scooter is being developed at Hero’s Centre of Innovation and Technology, Jaipur, and it is expected to be based on the Hero Dare concept first showcased at 2016 Auto Expo. When launched in India, Hero’s new 125cc scooter will go up against the likes of Honda Activa 125 and Suzuki Access.
Suzuki is set to showcase two new products at the 2018 Auto Expo and one of these will be a scooter, confirms an Autocar India report. So far, there are no details available about the new scooter, however, considering the Suzuki already has established products in the 110cc and 125cc segment in the form of Suzuki Lets and Suzuki Access 125, it is being speculated that the new scooter will be a 150cc. Once launched, the new Suzuki scooter will be one of the most powerful scooter offerings in India, and will compete with the likes of Aprilia SR150 and Vespa.
Considering that Yamaha Aerox 155 was just recently spotted in a production-ready guise at a dealership, it is expected that Yamaha will officially introduce it during the Auto Expo 2018. The images by Motoroids show the Yamaha Aerox 155 without any camouflage. As the name suggests, the Yamaha Aerox 155 sources its power from a 155cc, single cylinder engine that is mated to an automatic gearbox. The Blue Core enabled engine is good for churning out a maximum power output of 14.8 hp along with a peak torque of 14.4 Nm. Yamaha Aerox 155 is expected to be priced at about to Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom).
Honda PCX electric concept is the other big thing from the brand at the 2018 Auto Expo. It was first showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show and is a premium offering slated to go on sale Japan and other Asian markets later in 2018.
Twenty Two Motors Flow is all set for an official launch at the Auto Expo 2018. An electric scooter with a lot of smart features on board, Twenty Two Motors Flow will be priced at about Rs 70,000. The Flow’s battery will be portable and will be able to be charged at any five-ampere plug and takes a total of five hours to charge. The flow has a range of 80 km and if someone wants to extend this, Twenty Two Motors will lease an additional battery. A smart scooter because Twenty Two Motors Flow will come with a reverse gear, cruise control, ‘drag’ mode and others.
