Anita Inder Singh, PhD, is the Founding Professor of the Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution (the Nelson Mandela Centre) at Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi. A world-renowned historian and international affairs analyst, she is a citizen of Sweden currently based in India. She is widely regarded as a definitive authority on the Partition of India and a critical voice in modern geopolitics, particularly regarding the shifting power dynamics between the United States, Russia, China, and India.
Dr. Singh’s career bridges the worlds of high-level academia and international policy. She earned her D.Phil. in Modern History from Oxford University and her BA Honours from the University of Delhi. Her doctoral thesis remains a foundational text in South Asian history.
Before her tenure in New Delhi, she taught International Relations at both the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and Oxford University. She has held prestigious fellowships at the National Endowment for Democracy (Washington D.C.) and the Swedish Institute for International Affairs (Stockholm). She also worked for the Independent Commission on International Humanitarian Issues in Geneva.
