Zinc shed 0.34 per cent to Rs 103.65 per kg in futures trading on Thursday as speculators indulged in squaring-up their positions in the face of monthly expiry.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in March declined by 35 paise, or 0.34 per cent, to Rs 103.65 per kg, with a business volume of 629 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in April also shed 25 paise, or 0.24 per cent, to Rs 104.95 per kg, in a turnover of 249 lots.

Traders said squaring-up of pending positions by speculators in the view of monthly expiry along with subdued demand for the metal at the spot markets led to the fall in zinc futures prices.
