WLL User Base At 52.4 Lakh In October

Private wireless in local loop-mobile (WLL-M) operators have added 6.26 lakh subscribers during October (down from 7.02 lakh in September), with the total WLL subscriber base touching 52.4 lakh. Meanwhile, the cellular operators added 10.5 lakh subscribers during the month, thus taking the total wireless subscriber additions during the month to 16.9 lakh. The total wireless subscriber base as on October 31 touched almost 250 lakh.

Private operators added around 39,216 wireline connections, with the total wireline subscriber base touching 9.73 lakh and 1.1 lakh WLL (fixed) connections taking the total base up to 6.83 lakh, as per Association of Basic Telecom Operators figures.

Out of the total limited mobility subscriber base of 52.4 lakh, while Reliance Infocomm has the highest subscriber base with 47.5 lakh, Tata Teleservices follows with 4.35 lakh subscribers.

Meanwhile, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has issued a release pointing out that a total of 117.5 lakh subscribers were added in the wireless segment during the last seven months as compared to 130 lakh wireless phones added during the last eight years.
