PRS Oberoi, Chairman, Oberoi Hotels

As far as we know, none of our staff is involved in the terrorist attack... We do not have any indication that anybody (involved in the attack) had checked in advance.

Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata group

We must stand together, shoulder to shoulder as citizens of India, and rebuild what has been destroyed. We must show that we cannot be disabled or destroyed, but that such heinous act will only make us stronger

Barack Obama, President-elect, US

These terrorists who targeted innocent civilians will not defeat Indias great democracy, nor shake the will of a global coalition to defeat them. The United States must stand with India and all nations and people who are committed to destroying terrorist networks, and defeating their hate-filled ideology.

Nicolas Sarkozy, President, France

French (intelligence) services would cooperate to the utmost to help this great democracy to face up to this insane, gratuitous, barbaric terrorism. There is no cause that can make that acceptable. None. Ever. It is barbarity in its most exact sense of the word.

Asif Ali Zardari, President, Pakistan

There was a miscommunication... We had announced that a Director will come from my side.. That is what was requested by the Prime Minister and that is what we agreed...(But) It is too early for the Director Generals to meet at the moment. Let the evidence come to light, let the investigations take its course. Then perhaps there is a position where the Directors General could meet.

David C Mulford, Ambassador, US

President (George W) Bush has directed us to offer cooperation to Indian authorities in any way that we can. A majority of the victims were Indians but for the first time we have seen targeting Westerners, including Americans. The US is duty-bound to cooperate, provide assistance and become engaged in the investigative process. Our security people will cooperate in any way.

Kevin Pietersen, Captain,England Cricket

If were looking whats going on at the moment, all our cricket stuff is in storage at the Taj hotel so well be the first team to play a Test match in blues (one-day kit) thats for sure. So I dont know. If we do come back, well have to get all the logistic stuff sorted out first. The decision to go back to London will buy us some time and if we need to fly back to India on Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday next week then so be it.

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, CMD, Biocon

High profile companies are becoming victims and are being used to address issues.
