Weston to expand range; make LCDs, washing machines

Weston Consumer Electronics and Appliances plans to increase its domestic market share by expanding its product range. It will add LCD televisions, washing machines, juicer mixer grinders and multimedia speakers to its product basket. The $200-million company is setting up two new state-of-art facilities. We intend to strengthen our present product basket . The new product categories, which we will add on this year, would be LCD televisions, washing machines, multimedia speakers and juicer mixer grinders, said Sunil Sethi, COO, consumer electronics and marketing, Weston.

Sethi said that the company targtes selling 40,000 washing machines and 3 lakh television sets this year. We intend to go all out in channel expansion and would be doubling our distribution and dealer points this fiscal. Our efforts in the last two months have yielded additional 20 distribution points in various markets,said Sethi. The company has seven manufacturing facilities spread across India and is in the process of setting up two. Weston markets its products in India through a network of over 200 distributors, 2500 retailers, and 120 service centers and operates out of 20 branch offices, he added.
