The Mumbai-based Welingkar Institute of Management (WIM) is spreading its wings to other major metros across the country. To start with, the institute has recently inaugurated its new centre in Bangalore. Thereafter, it plans to set up centres in Delhi and other places by next year.

On WIMs expansion plans, says Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research director Uday Salunkhe: With this move, we plan to extend our global management training facilities to the garden city.

In the current academic year, the new centre will be offering its autonomous two-year full-time PGP eBiz programme and six-month Professional Programme in Retailing (PPR). Besides this, WIMs Management Development Programme (MDP) cell will also be offering corporate training facilities and support to various corporates, according to Mr Salunkhe.

The orientation programme for the PGP eBiz course in Bangalore has already begun and the regular course will commence within a week.

The Retail Management Programme is a part-time programme for industry people. Classes are scheduled to commence by September 25 with the selection process based on interviews.

According to Mr Salunkar, the Welingkar Institute of Management is ranked the No. 1 B-school in Mumbai by the Bombay Management Association and eighth in South Asia by Singapore-based Asia Inc.

We have pioneered new areas in management education with E-biz and Retail Management Programme, he added.
