US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned that North Korea faces consequences for its nuclear and missile tests conducted and denounced its provocative and belligerent threats.Excerpts:

North Korea has made a choice to violate UN Security Council resolutions, ignore international warnings and abrogate commitments made during six-nation nuclear disarmament talks. There are consequences to such actions. The nature of such action by international community is currently being discussed and debated at the United Nations by all the key global powers. The intent of diplomats was to try to rein in the North Koreans and get them to fulfill commitments made in the nuclear talks.

I hope that that North Korea would return to six-nation disarmament talks and we can begin once again to see results from working with the North Koreans toward denuclearisation that will benefit, we believe, the people of North Korea, the region and the world.
