After securing the victory of the BJP candidate in Deeg in the recent Assembly by-election, chief minister Vasundhara Raje is contemplating a cabinet reshuffle in order to bring about some streamlining.

The reshuffle was about to be made during the budget session. However, the by-election and local body elections had led to its postponement. Sources said the chief minister herself had been taking the report cards of her ministerial colleagues for quite some time.

Still, given the dissident factor inside the party organisation, she is likely to make less hostile and sweeping changes.

The RSS is expected to play a role in selection of candidate. Also amongst the factors deciding the composition of ministry is the agreement of the party high-command.

New BJP state president Mahesh Sharma is likely to push the candidature of his loyalists which the chief minister would obviously have to consider.

Among the new candidates is newly elected Maharani Divya Singh from Deeg who is a favourite of Ms Raje. It is said that there is a possibility of six ministers being stripped of their cabinet rank. However, this may not be possible as it will add to dissident brigade against Ms Raje.
